Casting / Investment Casting

Precision Investment Casting Services

Investment casting — also called lost-wax casting — is the precision route for complex geometries, thin walls and superior surface finish. Monmet supplies investment castings in all ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, holding tight as-cast tolerances and fine surface detail on small features.

Investment Casting

Why Investment Casting

Investment casting reproduces fine surface detail and net-shape features that would otherwise require extensive machining. The wax-pattern approach allows undercuts, internal passages and cosmetic surfaces in a single pour, reducing downstream machining cost and material waste.

Alloy Range

Monmet investment casts stainless steels, tool steels, carbon and low-alloy steels, nickel-based superalloys such as Inconel and Hastelloy, cobalt-based alloys and copper-based alloys.

Typical Applications

Valve internals, pump impellers, mining and aggregate wear parts, food-grade fittings and instrument components.

Frequently Asked Questions

Investment casting uses a one-time ceramic shell built around a wax pattern, giving much tighter tolerances and finer surfaces than sand casting, but at smaller maximum sizes.

Yes — investment castings are weldable per the parent alloy's standard procedures; material certification supports welding qualification.

Both prototype quantities and repeat production are quoted — send the drawing and the annual quantity you need.
