Casting / Heat-Resistant Castings

Heat-Resistant Castings

Heat-resistant castings retain strength, creep resistance and oxidation resistance at temperatures where carbon and stainless steels fail. Monmet supplies heat-resistant steel and Ni-Cr alloy grades to the specification on your drawing or purchase order.

Grade Selection

Heat-resistant Cr-Ni steel and Ni-Cr alloy grades are selected and microalloyed as needed for petrochemical reformer and pyrolysis tube service, to the specification on your drawing or purchase order.

Typical Applications

Ethylene cracker coils, steam reformer tubes, radiant tubes, walking-beam furnace hardware, kiln components and heat-treatment fixtures.

Centrifugal Casting Advantage

Most reformer and cracker tubes are centrifugally cast for maximum density and creep life. Monmet supplies finished tubes ready for welding into manifolds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Maximum tube metal temperature depends on the alloy grade, internal pressure and required design life — Monmet works with you to select and specify the grade for your service conditions.

Yes, with matching consumables and qualified procedures — though most operators replace rather than repair tubes after creep exposure.
