Forging / Forging Heat Treatment

Forging Heat Treatment

Heat treatment unlocks the mechanical properties forging develops. Monmet coordinates normalizing, quench-and-tempering, annealing, solution-annealing and stress-relieving with its partner mills — every cycle documented with chart traces and survey records.

Cycle Selection

Normalize for grain refinement, quench-and-temper for high strength and toughness, sub-critical anneal for machinability, solution-anneal for austenitic stainless and Ni alloys, stress-relieve to remove residual welding or machining stresses.

Quench Media

Water, polymer (PAG), oil and forced-air quench. Polymer quenching minimizes distortion on large parts while delivering deep through-hardening on alloy grades.

Documentation

Every load is supplied with time-temperature charts and certified mechanical property testing on prolongations where your specification requires it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tell us the pyrometry standard and class your specification calls for and we place the work with a shop qualified to it, with the survey and thermocouple records supplied on delivery.

Vertical quenching with polymer media, controlled cooling rates and post-quench straightening keep distortion within machining allowance.
