Heavy-Section Castings — Risering and Handling

Heavy sections behave differently: slower solidification, coarser structure, more segregation and a real risk of shrinkage at the thermal center. This page covers the engineering behind heavy-section parts — feeding and risering, heat treatment through thick sections and handling. Weight limits and quoting live on our custom castings page.

Large Castings

Engineering for Scale

Large castings demand careful riser design, directional solidification modeling and segregation control. Monmet reviews feeding and gating with the producing foundry before metal is poured, and solidification modelling is run on heavy sections where the geometry warrants it.

Heat Treatment & Machining

Heat treatment and heavy machining are coordinated through Monmet's partner shops and sized to the part. Rotating components can be delivered machined to your drawing.

Logistics

Heavy-haul road and rail dispatch, crating to ocean-shipping spec, and lifting-fixture design supplied with each piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

Single-piece steel and iron castings are supplied from small parts to very large single pieces; bronze and copper-alloy castings across a wide range of tonnages.

Yes. Heavy-haul logistics, port handling and lifting-fixture design are coordinated end-to-end.
