What is the maximum casting weight Monmet can supply?
Quick answer
Monmet supplies castings from small components to very large single-piece parts in steel and iron. The practical limit depends on the casting route: sand casting covers the largest sizes, investment casting suits smaller high-precision parts, and centrifugal casting suits tubes, sleeves and rings, most often in bronze and other non-ferrous metals.
Weight is not the only limit
Pour weight, section thickness, alloy and required soundness together set feasibility. A thick-section alloy steel casting needs a different gating and heat-treat plan than the same weight spread across thinner sections.
Choosing the route
Sand casting handles the heaviest and largest parts; investment casting delivers fine detail and tight tolerances on smaller components; centrifugal casting produces dense, defect-free tubes, sleeves and rings, most often in bronze, high-alloy stainless and exotic ferrous grades; continuous casting supplies bar and billet stock.
Inspection on heavy sections
Large castings are supplied with the inspection, chemistry and mechanical test reporting stated on your drawing or purchase order, under Monmet's ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
