What does ISO 9001:2015 certification actually cover for a metal supplier?

ISO 9001:2015 certifies a supplier's quality management system — documented processes, traceability, corrective action and continual improvement. What certification does cover
A certified system means processes are documented and followed, records are traceable, nonconformities are recorded and corrected, and the system is audited by an accredited third party rather than self-declared.
What it does not cover
It says nothing about a specific alloy, hardness or tolerance. Those come from the material standard you specify on the order — a wear grade for abrasion or impact duty, a heat-resistant grade for furnace and kiln parts — plus the inspection scope written into the purchase order.
How to write it into an order
State the material standard, class and heat-treat condition, the inspection and acceptance criteria, and which documents must ship with the part: chemistry, mechanical results, hardness, dimensional report.
